Sample story text
Leo found the letter at the top of the hill, glowing softly in both hands as if it had been folded from moonlight.
The Moon had written his name on the envelope. Inside was a request: Dear Leo, the stars are humming too loudly tonight. Can you help me hear the smallest one?
Leo listened. The crickets clicked. The wind brushed the grass. The stars buzzed like a room after a party, and Leo felt his shoulders climb toward his ears.
I need quiet first, Leo said, not to anyone in particular and also to everyone at once.
The Moon smiled and dimmed the hillside. The wind softened. The crickets took turns. In the new quiet, Leo heard one tiny star singing a silver note.
When Leo answered the Moon's letter, he wrote the truest thing he knew: asking for quiet did not make the adventure smaller. It made him ready for it.
Parent conversation prompt
